Midnight Rider

I started writing this post yesterday... then had to laugh at just how many bike posts and comments I came across (Holly & Katie, to name a couple).  We've all got bicycles on the brain!

Here's my version.

Name: Lola
D.O.B.: 1925
Color: Formerly 'Tomato' - currently 'Minty'
Needs: Whitewall tires, brake work
Loves: The new basket (perfect catch-all)

I've taken to riding my 85 year-old bike around town at all hours of the night this summer.  It's so perfectly quiet after midnight in this small town.  And I suppose the lack of traffic is also a perk, considering the sketchy brakes that come with an ancient ride like the Hercules.  All I can say is, if you see my bike headed your way, you would be wise to step aside (or suffer the damages incurred from the basket).  Just sayin'.

P.S. For all the biker-safety nuts out there, don't worry, I do have plans to get my G'pa to remedy the brake issue someday soon :)

Fall, Lovely.

Dainty and Demure Top
Back to Your Roots Dress
Positive Influence Sweater
Tussie-Mussie Dress
What's My Line Socks
Kimchi Blue Two-Tone Wingtip Skimmer
(The shoes are from Urban Outfitters and everything else is ModCloth).

I'm already looking forward to September and the looming long weekend (yes, I know it's only Monday).  There will be much fall shopping and relaxing to be had.  The items above are ideas of the looks I like for fall... muted florals, soft, cozy materials and thigh high socks.  I probably already own too many pairs of these socks, but I can't get enough of them!  As for the shoes, I bought a heeled version of these (below) in Vienna a couple of summers back, but for practical reasons (um, the whole 5'-10" of me) I would love the option of flat-form.  I'm finding fall fashion this year is pretty laid back, layered (yay!) and super focused on the warm and fuzzy.  These are the things fall is all about, right?!

Today looks a little like this for me: yoga, coffee, painting, kiss the sister goodbye (yet again) and a little planning for the sewing/art room make-over (goal #2)...
...And I'm off!

Field Fairy

Just a couple shots I took of my cute little sissy this weekend.  The dress is still name-less, but will be in my shop soon.  Aside from the tulle, it's made completely of vintage materials - my favorite thing to work with.

Happy lazy Sunday!

Sun Day in Pictures

Yesterday was one of the only days all summer that I've had the time to just sit in the sun all day with not a lot on the brain.  The sister and I went to the swimming hole out by Ma and Pa's farm and soaked up some summer.  I may have followed this strenuous afternoon up with a pre-dinner nap in my hammock.  Maybe.

The weekend is shaping up to be crazy with the Corn & Apple street festival going on in town.  Yes, it is actually named after corn - and what is the first thing that comes to mind when you think 'corn'?  Apples.  Naturally.  Haha, love this funny town!  I'm off to enjoy the madness.

Coco and the Chapel

Coco Rocha's beautiful wedding in France.  The cinematography is just beautiful, and ohhh, THE DRESS.
Enjoy!

P.S. If you're short on time, check out the teaser version on Coco's blog.

New Old Hair

Here it is, a few washes and many shades of red-brown later.  My new old hair.  After years of being blonde, I am still doing a double take any time I pass a mirror, it feels like I'm in disguise.  It's turning out to be surprisingly close to my natural color... which is maybe not what I set out for, but I like the idea.  My hair stylist is all about the coppery hair, especially in fall - so thanks Kristen, for bringing me some autumn to carry around atop my head :)

CoatEd.

Coat - Marni

Maxmara coats CAMEL - Max Mara

Coat - Marni
セリーヌ (CÉLINE) - ケープ - 1980ファッションアイテムのカタログ検索 | VOGUE.COM - Celine

Not sure what it is about the coats, but they have my heart today.  That cape also has my heart.  There's something military-esque about it that I love - It looks like it could really serve its purpose. If I had to pick just one though, it would be the first since the high neck on that jacket is pretty much a dream for someone like me (with the proportions of a giraffe).

Even though the days are still hot, the nights are starting to feel like fall... I like that fall has a newness to it, even though it's really all about the opposite.  It feels like life starts again, and you get another opportunity to re-evaluate and decide how to approach the next season.  Maybe it's just me, but fall makes me attack projects with a fresh sort of ambition.  For me, that's going to mean getting back to the painting and sewing projects I left unfinished before the week of study mayhem.  I'm so looking forward to it!

Independence Day.

Relief.  Pretty sure I was too girl-scout-style prepared for that exam, but it's another one down and I couldn't be happier.  School's out and there's still a little summer left to love, a little fall planning to do and plenty of hammock weather left to enjoy.
Sweet Dreams,

Study Buddies

They may be inanimate objects... but I sure do love my porch full of pretty little distractions.  I mean, if I'm going to be daydreaming instead of studying for tomorrow's final, I might as well enjoy the view.  Back to the books...
G'night,
K.

Study Date

I spent the day studying for the history exam I have coming up... what a hard thing to do on one of the last days of summer!  Soooo, I bribed myself with a little coffee, lots of outdoor time and some sketch book time (for fun, as per the 4 Simple Goals post).  I'll have to put this day on repeat until Monday!
Good Night Moon.
